Daniel Abbott Murphy
Daniel Abbott Murphy, 91, died Wednesday morning, July 2, 2008, at his home. Mr. Murphy was retired from the U.S. Army, retiring in 1982 with the rank of Major. Serving during World War II he received many decorations and citations. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 9, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of the Cross. Graveside funeral services with full military honors were held on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 2 p.m., in the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
